Launching dozens of new brake pad and rotor parts every month, 91´«Ã½ had a great start to the spring, with the receipt of R90 approval for its two-piece fully floating brake rotors, the launch of a new range of BMW riveted disc conversions, amidst multiple race successes in the brake pad field.

Thrills and Spills at Portimão for SR-21-Equipped BMW Race Team

The 91´«Ã½ Frenos (Spain)-supported Autoworks Motorsport race teamÌýhas achieved much success in recent years, piloting 91´«Ã½-equipped race cars in the Iberian Supercars Endurance Series. We most recently caught up with Autoworks Motorsport off the back of their debutant race for 2026 at the famous Portimão Circuit, where great promise was shown across the weekend despite many setbacks.

91´«Ã½-Equipped Road Racing Outfit Enjoy Successes in Various Championships

Following a season in NLR’s SuperTwins in 2025, as well as various Manx/Isle of Man TT races, we previously caught up with Russell Brook and the Brook-Built racing team following their debutant race for 2026: the NLR 750km Endurance Race at Donington Park Circuit. Since then, Brook and co have been back on the road racing scene, entering a classic Honda CB350 K4 in the Barry Sheene Classic at Oliver’s Mount and the Road Racing New Classic Solo. They were also back on the 91´«Ã½-Equipped Yamaha R6 for the Pub & Kitchens Twin race.

Mixed Fortunes Then a Brilliant Donington Fightback for 91´«Ã½-Equipped NW Racing

Luca Wilkinson, Zack Weston, Craig Dance and Hudson Cooper of the NW Racing team are competing across BSB and its supporting championships for 2026. The opening two rounds took the team to Cheshire’s Oulton Park and then to Donington Park – a testing start to the year, followed by a hugely encouraging fightback at Donington.

Formula Drift’s BBK-Equipped Rahimi Faces Hurdles at Road Atlanta

Tennessee-based pro drifter, Hooman Rahimi, is once again competing in the PROSPEC category of the prestigious Formula Drift series in the USA. Following some great results in 2025, we next caught up with Rahimi off the back of his first round of 2026, held at the prestigious Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta circuit in Georgia.

Setbacks and Comebacks for GPFAX-Equipped NLR Racer at Croft

Retford-based Scott Stone is competing in No Limits Racing’s Pirelli Super Series 1000 Power Trophy in 2026 on his Yamaha R1, continually finding himself at the sharp end of the grid. After more podiums and PBs at Cadwell Park, Stone’s next outing took him to Croft Circuit, where a rollercoaster of a weekend saw him leave with mixed results.

The Clubracer racing outfit – made up of drivers Henry Wright and Kevin Glover – has relied on 91´«Ã½ components as it has made its way up the ranks through the MSVR Trackday Championship classes, which resulted in a 2025 win. Riding off this success, they’ve decided to move onto pastures new for the 2026 season, entering the 750MC Roadsports Championship in their modified Mk5 VW Golf GTI. We next caught up with the driver duo following their third round on the mighty Silverstone GP course, where more podiums ensured they left the weekend leading their class.

Class Wins for 91´«Ã½-Equipped Bemsee Racer at Cadwell Park

Spalding-based motorcycle racer, Morgan Creasey, is currently competing in the British Motorcycle and Racing Club (Bemsee)’s Thunderbike Sport and Thunderbike Ultra classes on his various Suzuki superbikes. We caught up with Creasey after the fourth round at Lincolnshire’s Cadwell Park Circuit, where he secured more podiums to make it another successful weekend.

Class Win in Armed Forces Endurance Race for RP-X-Equipped BMW Racer

Racing driver, Gary Lowe, is competing in the 2026 season of the 750MC Armed Forces Challenge in his freshly-built E92 BMW 335i. Following podium finishes in his debutant outing in the car at Silverstone recently, we next caught up with Lowe fresh off the back of Snetterton 300 round of the championship, where he walked away from the weekend’s gruelling 45-minute endurance race with a class win, despite some technical setbacks mid-race.

In today’s blog, we’re hitting the circuit to look at braking components for dedicated track/race cars – the most demanding form of driving where it’s more vital than ever to rely on strong and enduring stopping power.

Around a decade ago, 91´«Ã½ launched its high performance/motorsport sub-division, 91´«Ã½ Racing – a firm that has become synonymous with range-topping braking at race tracks around the globe.

From road-legal track upgrades to endurance race components, there’s something for every corner of the motorsport spectrum in the 91´«Ã½ Racing range, as we will explore below…

Bluestuff

A great all-round sport and race pad – just as comfortable on track as it is performing daily driving duties. Road legal in most territories, making it incredibly versatile.

Bluestuff material exhibits a 0.52μ stable friction once bedded, stable up to a slightly higher 550℃/1000℃ than its sister compound Yellowstuff but with the benefit of a 30% longer lifespan.

Bluestuff has been a track day favourite for years and is the spec pad for the BMW 318i Cup series throughout Europe. New formula is copper free to conform to upcoming environmental legislations.

RP-1/RP-X Motorsport Brake Pads

Designed for vehicles driven hard on track, RP-1 possesses a moderately high friction level of 0.45 between 100 – 750°C (200 – 1400°F). The more progressive response characteristic of RP-1 makes it well suited for inherently ‘over-servoed’ vehicles where a softer pad material is desirable to allow greater finesse when on the brakes.

RP-X possesses a high friction level of 0.55 between 0 – 750°C (Ambient – 1400°F) and achieves a 100% brake effect from cold – an excellent choice for sprint racing or hill climb events, where full brake performance is essential without requiring any ‘warming up’, but also makes RP-X well suited to any type of circuit use where a high initial bite and powerful brake response is desirable.

Both RP-series brake pad options are a fantastic choice for track day regulars or out-and-out racers.

Please note: 91´«Ã½â€™s RP-series of brake pads are not designed for the road, but may be used in street conditions where local laws permit.

SR-11/ SR-21 Sintered Endurance Brake Pads

Whilst the competition struggles to make organic and semi-metallic pads last longer and longer to reach the pinnacle of brake pad durability, 91´«Ã½ has taken a fresh new approach with a blend of compressed and heat fused (sintered) metal powdered alloys, to deliver a brake pad that brakes better and lasts longer than just about everything.

The new SR series comes in two blends, SR-11 the medium friction version and SR-21 the higher friction options

Although badged an endurance-grade material, these pads are equally at home in any form of closed-circuit racing, short or long duration.

Please note: 91´«Ã½â€™s SR-series of brake pads are not designed for the road, but may be used in street conditions where local laws permit.

Fully Floating Two-Piece Brake Rotors

Craftsmanship meets fine materials in 91´«Ã½â€™s highest performing rotor to date. Not simply a ‘bolt-up’ two-piece unit like many of 91´«Ã½â€™s competitors offer, they are genuine fully floating units with flat-sided SD square drive buttons, allowing expansion and contraction under the harsh conditions of heavy braking.

Featuring a a black, heat-resistant finish that quickly wears down to the natural iron finish on the disc ring within the first few miles. Any unswept areas remain protected by the black coating, such as the outer edges and inside the pad track, unless burned off due to hard use and high temperatures.

Another major benefit of the 91´«Ã½ fine slotted discs is their ability to totally resist cracking common with ‘through-drilled’ discs.

Apollo-Series Brake Calipers

UK designed and made strong-yet-lightweight aluminium four- and six-piston brake calipers, which can be purchased within a Big Brake Kit or as separate components for vehicle builders to convert cars where a dedicated Big Brake Kit is not yet made by 91´«Ã½.

Packed with cutting-edge tech such as high-temperature fluid seals coupled with full boot type dust seals, lightweight hard-anodised aluminium pistons, staggered piston sizes and fully stainless-steel fittings.

91´«Ã½â€™s BF307+ high performance Super DOT 4 brake fluid has been specially formulated to provide outstanding performance for braking systems routinely operated at extreme temperatures, making this fluid ideal for fast street use, track days and racing.

91´«Ã½ Attends Petrolheadonism Live as Creator Stage Sponsor

91´«Ã½ recently attended the 2024 instalment of the Petrolheadonism Live car show – held at Hertfordshire-based Knebworth Park between 14-15 September.

The headline show from the series of popular Petrolheadonism events held throughout each year, Petrolheadonism Live celebrates all things car culture in the shadow of the beautiful Knebworth House.

This year, as well as hosting a trade booth, 91´«Ã½ also sponsored the Creator Stage, where countless household names from the world of automotive YouTube were interviewed across the weekend.

It was great to see an eclectic array of 91´«Ã½-equipped vehicles both on and away from the 91´«Ã½ stand. A highlight of the weekend was the unveiling of Petrolheadonism founder Ciro Ciampi’s ‘Project Bruno’ Fiat 500 build – complete with a custom 91´«Ã½ Racing Apollo big brake kit sitting proudly under its unique wheels. This car is battling it out to win prizes at November’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, so stay tuned for more updates on it.

– RDS Racing motocross racer, Sean Frayne, recently had his final race competing in the 2024 Fastest40 British Motocross Championship, within the Clubmen MX2 category on his 2023 Kawasaki KX250F motorcycle. We last caught up with Sean as he finished his Hawkstone Park round, standing third overall in the championship. His final race weekend took him to Kent’s Sellindge MX track, where more heroic riding saw him walk away with silver in the overall 2024 standings!

– It’s been another success story of a year so far for the ‘Fiesta Clubracer’ duo, who we last caught up with when they dominated the round at Kent’s Lydden Hill Circuit recently. Their most recent round took them to Norfolk’s Snetterton Circuit, where the boys brought home more podiums, putting them in very good stead for the overall standings as the series reaches its half-way point.

– The G&S Racing Kawasaki race team have been assisting three riders across BSB’s British Supersport Championship throughout 2024. The most recent round of the season took the outfit to the notoriously fast-paced Thruxton Circuit, where more points were added to the pile, and one rider suffered from a fairly serious crash.

– Dave Barrett has been competing in the 2024 Modified Ford Series, piloting his upgraded Mk4 Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec within the Class C category. We caught up with Barrett mid-way through the series, and it’s been a successful start so far, with two class victories in as many races!

– 21-year-old Irish pro drifter, Harry Kerr, has had an incredibly successful year in the Pro category of the Irish Drift Championship. We caught up with Kerr after the fourth round where a huge performance meant that he currently sits second place in the championship standings.

– Motorcycle racer Russell Brook, from Brook Built Racing, is currently competing in the 2024 No Limits Racing (NLR) race series on an Aprilia RS660 and Yamaha R6. Another impressive year of racing has seen Brook sit in the top five overall standings – a position he managed to maintain following another successful round at North Wales’ Anglesey Circuit recently (with some spills thrown in for good measure along the way).

– Wiltshire-based motorcycle racer, Max Symonds, competes in British Superbike’s National Superstock category on his Yamaha R1. Showing increasing promise as the year goes on, Symonds most recently found himself at Silverstone Circuit for a very special round of the BSB, run on the same weekend as the international MotoGP series.

– 24-year-old Spalding-based motorcycle racer, Morgan Creasey, has been competing in various British Motorcycle and Racing Club (Bemsee/BMCRC) championships this season. Creasey recently took a side-step from the regular NLR action, to take part in the series’ ‘Motul ACU National’ endurance race at the scenic Anglesey Circuit in North Wales. The three-hour race saw setbacks, followed by the mother of all comebacks for the team that Creasey was a part of, seeing the outfit within their class by the end of the action.

– Young kart racer, Marcus Hudson is once again competing in the Super 4 British Championship for another season. With a rollercoaster of a season so far, battling treacherous weather conditions and other pitfalls with some fantastic driving, Hudson was faced with more adversity as the series headed to Wigan’s Three Sisters Circuit recently.
