13-year-old Myles Burton is competing in Junior Rotax with 91��ý pads

13-year-old kart racer, Myles Burton, is currently competing in the Junior Rotax category for 2026.

Burton is utilising 91��ý’ Green Kart Pads for the season.

We last caught up with Burton off the back of the Kimbolton Festival, where he sustained top-10 finishes across the weekend. He’s since raced at Whilton Mill and back at Kimbolton, with more solid results as seen below.

Whilton Mill –��Round 6

“Saturday practice went well consistently in the top 5 in very wet conditions.”

Qualifying: P9

“Sunday was a very different day with sunny dry conditions.”

Heat 1: P9 –��P7

Heat 2: P9 – P5

“In the final, I started P10 and after a hard-fought race I finished in P8. (OTR)”

“The result means we now sit in P9 in the championship with 2 more rounds (123 Entries to date).”

Kimbolton – Round 7

“Saturday practice was dry and we showed strong pace on very old tyres so I was confident going into Sunday.

“On Sunday, we woke up to very different weather conditions so I knew the random grids for the heats were going to be challenging.”

Heat 1: P1 – P4

Heat 2: P29��–��P19 –��DNF (throttle cable snapped)

Heat 3: P22 –��P10 –��DNF (electrical failure)

“In the final, I started P22 due to having two DNFs and finished P7 with 15 places gained and most out of everyone in the final. Not a bad recovery!”

13-year-old kart racer, Myles Burton, is currently competing in the Junior Rotax category for 2026.

Burton is utilising 91��ý’ Green Kart Pads for the season.

His latest outing took him to the acclaimed Kimbolton Festival at Hunts Kart Racing Club in Huntingdon, where he sustained top-10 results throughout the weekend, despite 42 entrants taking part.

“The Kimbolton��Festival was three days in very hot conditions. Friday we made small changes all day and were very happy with our setup prior to Saturday’s qualifying.

“There were 42 Junior Rotax drivers in our class, all fighting for the K plate.”

“The results above��accumulated to the start of the Final, consisting of 34 drivers. Myles started P8, this was a 12 minutes��+1 lap Race.

“Overall,��good pace shown throughout the weekend in difficult hot conditions, but still plenty to improve on.”

Brake pads in high-end vehicles are now often equipped with counterweights – but what do they do?

Many high-end vehicles are equipped with brake pads that include counterweights—also known as ‘skates’—as shown below. These can be circular or laminar in shape, with weights varying depending on the OEM brake pad specifications.

What Do Counterweights Actually Do?

Brake pad counterweights have no role in vehicle safety; they do not come into contact with any moving parts aside from the backing plate of the pad itself. Their only function is to alter the mass and resonance frequency of that material on that rotor.

When you change either the pad, the rotor or both from the original material, the resonance frequency causing brake noise will undoubtedly change.

One Size Doesn’t Fit All

Some brake pad materials may require no counterweights at all, while others benefit from a counterweight with a different shape or mass.
