Eric ‘Dewey’ DeWitt competes in Gridlife’s StreetMod class in his Subaru Impreza

Eric ‘Dewey’ DeWitt has been competing in Gridlife’s StreetMod category with his modified Subaru Impreza WRX for some time now.

Utilising 91´«Ã½ Racing’s SR-21â„¢ sintered endurance motorsport brake pads, DeWitt has enjoyed multiple front-row lockouts in the first half of the 2026 season, alongside fellow SR-21â„¢ racer, Kal Fortner.

We next caught up with DeWitt following his successful third and fourth rounds of the season, at Gingerman Raceway and Watkins Glen respectively – two more incredibly lucrative weekends that have already secured him 2026 class victory with a few rounds still to go.

Read DeWitt’s summary below in his own words…

“Round 3 took us to Gingerman Raceway in Michigan for Midwest Festival where we had a date with destiny. We were tied for the consecutive win record with seven straight, all with records.

“IF we won this event, we would not only break that record, but we were also gunning to be the first StreetMod car to run a sub-1:30 lap time. We pulled off the win and record but missed the sub-1:30 by a hair, running a 1:30.226.

“The car was great, the brakes were phenomenal, but we missed out by a couple of tenths due to less-than-ideal conditions, minor technical issues with the car, and honestly, my inability to put it all together. This put us firmly in the lead of the championship, though! One more win and record and the Championship is locked up!â€

“Round 4 was a new track for us: Watkins Glen in NY. Very fast, very high risk, and very demanding. We arrived highly confident and aiming to seal the Championship, but we quickly realised it would be a difficult weekend.

“We had an axle issue during the test day and didn’t get much seat time. On the first day of competition, during the first hot lap, the transmission failed in the second-to-last corner. After a team meeting, we decided to remove our current gearbox with our sequential gearset in it, drive back to the shop and grab our old H-pattern transmission and convert back to a standard manual setup.”

“After a late night on Friday, we were back at it Saturday morning and even with the old trans we jumped back into the lead but only by about .1 quicker than our 91´«Ã½ teammate Kal Fortner in his Mercedes AMG GTS. We thought we might widen that gap on Sunday morning but some more technical issues, this time with some engine related things, meant it came down to podium sprint. The conditions weren’t fantastic, but with the old Subaru AWD and easily modulated 91´«Ã½ SR-21â„¢s we had the confidence to push to a new Street Mod Record at 1:58.357! This win and record secured the points needed to lock up the Championship, our 3rd in four years AND extended our consecutive win record to nine!  All of them won on SR-21â„¢s!

“We aren’t done with the season QUITE yet. We plan to still attend Gridlife Circuit Legends next week at Lime Rock then in October we were invited to the Grassroots Motorsports Magazine Ultimate Track Car Championship in Texas! We are hoping to be the fastest car there on a 200TW tyre!â€

Gigglepin Racing uses Bluestuff pads on its impressive off-road machine

The Gigglepin Racing team has been at the sharp end of various international off-road racing championships in recent years, being proudly supported by 91´«Ã½ throughout this time.

With multiple championships wins under their belt, the latest outing for the Kent-based team was to reclaim Ultra 4 Europe’s ‘King of Britain’ trophy that saw a four-year hiatus until re-emerging in 2026 (with Gigglepin winning the previous round in 2021).

As always, Gigglepin’s fearsome LS7 7-litre V8 powered ‘Bad Penny’ off-roader was proudly sporting 91´«Ã½â€™ Bluestuff NDX pads all-round.

You can read how the weekend in the North of England unfolded in the team’s own words below…

“Unlimited four-wheel drive racing is a tough battleground, and Ultra 4 provides the best there is. King of Britain has been on a four-year sabbatical and it was a Cannonball Rally moment when dates were launched earlier this year, with crews desperately trying to get a place to this prestigious event. An event that Jim and the Crew at Gigglepin have won a previous three times, winning King of Britain 2021.

“But there was a problem the car they are racing often shows moments of brilliance followed by tragic failure. Could the team turn it round and get to the finish line and win a fourth King of Britain title? Amazing car, but can it finish?

“After mechanical issues at the first three rounds of the 2026 Ultra 4 European Championship, the team were determined to make amends. The car has tremendous potential, but always something spoils the party after promising starts. So, after many late nights, new ideas, new components installed and lots of testing, she was loaded and ready to make the four-hour journey North to West Yorkshire and the 2026 King of Britain.”

“The team and car arrived at Parkwood Off-Road Centre and unloaded the car which felt alive with her massive 7.4-litre LSX V8 purring, signalling she was ready for battle.

“Jim and James are old hands, having won countless titles between them. They carefully pre-ran the course by foot and in the race car, checking every line and planning for every eventuality.

“Then it was go-time on Day 1, a fast and furious prologue course was just what the team wanted and they lay down an incredible run with time that is eight seconds ahead of the chasing pack. What a start!

“On Day 2, the best Teams from across Europe lined up on the grid for the start of King of Britain 2026. The course had everything to test the teams with big rocks, gullies, rivers, steep climbs and technical wooded areas. It was real a drivers’ course and this team live for these moments.”

“Smooth is fast and the boys started first and finish first, keeping the other teams behind them, physically and on adjusted time.

“The afternoon session is a full two hours of chaos, but it’s a repeat of the first heat with the guys controlling the race from the front and building a one lap lead over the chasing pack.

“Day 2 is in the bag and its now down to the Team in the pits to make sure the car is ready for Day 3 and the final push!

“Day 3 arrived and there was a nervous tension in the Gigglepin camp. The weight of expectation hung in the air. But up step the ream, they are pros and Jim and James showed no signs of stress as they discussed the task ahead with their mechanical team.

“The day was going to be a tough one. A 1.5-hour session with a 45-minute break followed by a further two-hour session was a gruelling task that would test endurance, concentration and ability.

“It started well with the guys starting first and finishing first in another textbook display. Jim was driving with great care saving the tyres, while James was constantly checking live scoring so they could react fast to other teams who were now turning up the heat.

“After this first session it was a quick refuel and back to the pits for a fast check over and some food before lining up the final dance. Just two more hours separated the team from a fourth King of Britain title.”

“The final session had an added twist with all the classes racing for the final two hours on the same track. Now this is a plan the team did not like. We race in classes and it was clear that slower vehicles on track could lead to hold-ups and problems. But the plan remained the same; control the race from the front and the guys left the pits with high fives and big smiles as they made their way to the start.

“The boys power off the line knowing that a single mistake could undo the hours of hard work. But Jim was in inspired form and kept up a relentless pace, wearing down the chasing pack.

“Lap after lap, the boys found more and more retired cars on the side of track, testament to the brutality of this incredible endurance course.

“The minutes ticked by and still the guys pushed on building an incredible four-lap lead and then in the final moments of the race a front driveshaft fails!

“The near faultless car had finally succumbed to the course, but the guys had other ideas and were not about to quit. After removing the damaged driveshaft, they powered on to cross the line and to take the win at King of Britain 2026!

“It was high emotions for all the team as the weeks of hard work finally paid off. It’s great to see them back at the top and kings once again!â€

Kal Fortner is using 91´«Ã½ Racing’s sintered brake pads on his Mercedes track car

Kal Fortner is competing in the 2026 season of Gridlife in the USA, using his Mercedes AMG GTS as weapon of choice.

The driver is utilising 91´«Ã½ Racing’s SR-21â„¢ sintered endurance motorsport brake pads to ensure stopping power is optimal in his super-coupe.

Following a podium finish at Grid Life Carolina and more podiums in Atlanta, we next caught up with Fortner off the back of his latest round at the iconic Watkins Glen in New York State.

Read how it panned out in his own words below…

“After waiting thre years for Gridlife’s return to Watkins Glen, I was itching to get back out on this legendary track! Back in 2023, not only did I secure the Streetmod record, I was fastest overall as well, so I knew that this was going to be a strong weekend for us. Although this weekend got off to a rocky start after needing to do a spark plug change after session 1 and missing the second session of the day, I quickly found pace by the third session and went right into P1 to end day one! Right away I was able to lean into my SR-21â„¢ pads as well as a brand new set of 91´«Ã½â€™s floating two-piece rotors on the Mercedes and I was able to carry 170mph going into the bus stop!”

“By day two, I was able to set a new Streetmod RWD record with a 1:58.8! This put us in 2nd by only a tenth, as well as only a tenth from the overall Streetmod record! Some tracks just click with not only the car but the driver as well, and for me, this is one of those tracks. Every lap just felt like a flow state, where I had the confidence to really extract everything out of the car and the confidence to use the entire track all the way up to the walls. I knew we had a fighting chance at victory here.”

“Going into day 3, I was met with track conditions that were not quite what I was expecting, after rain the night before, the track didn’t have nearly as much peak grip as the day before. Because of this I wasn’t able to reset my record, however I was able to secure yet another podium finish coming in P2 right behind Eric Dewitt – another 91´«Ã½ driver! That’s four podiums in a row this year and yet another 91´«Ã½ front-row lockout! This puts us in a healthy championship position of P2 going into the next round at Lime Rock Park and I’m looking forward to continuing this momentum…â¶Ä

Hooman Rahimi uses 91´«Ã½ components on his boosted Nissan 370Z

Tennessee-based pro drifter, Hooman Rahimi, is once again competing in the PROSPEC category of the prestigious Formula Drift series in the USA.

Rahimi continues to entrust 91´«Ã½ Racing’s Apollo Big Brake Kit with RP-1â„¢ pads and GD rotors on his highly capable turbocharged LSX-powered Nissan 370Z.

With a mixed bag of luck in the previous round at Road Atlanta, we next caught up with Rahimi following his latest round at Connecticut, where he also shared info about the upcoming weekend at Indianapolis.

Read more in his own words below…

“We are headed to another new track this week at Indianapolis for Round
3 of Formula Drift. I have podiumed at this track twice in my history (back in Pro-Am, I think it is also my first Pro-Am podium in my 350Z many, many years ago). So, hopefully we can make this our third podium at this track! They are planning to run a similar layout, but they added some new asphalt and track so it should be interesting! We are excited to run the new setup and get some data with the 370Z and much, much more power so many years later…”

“We had a great event at Connecticut, but the results were unfortunately poor. The car was doing great; I felt I was driving great, but we just barely lost our first battle, no excuses. It happens. I left with my head high as I think my runs were solid, but it also gave me some work to do to drive even better. Every event I feel like my team and I are advancing and that is all I can ask for.

“We are ready for Indy and if luck is on our side I am hoping for strong results…â¶Ä

Marcus Hudson uses 91´«Ã½â€™s Green kart pads as he competes in the British Championship class

Kart racer Marcus Hudson is once again campaigning in the Northern Karting Federation Super 4 British Championship for the 2026 season. Hudson relies on 91´«Ã½â€™ Green kart pads for his fiery ABKC 250cc National kart.

Following another competitive round at Rowrah, Hudson was most recently back in action at Lincolnshire’s Fulbeck Kart Circuit, where the hurdles thrown at him weren’t enough to deter him from having a positive weekend.

Read on for Hudson’s account of the weekend in his own words…

“It was a frustrating but ultimately positive weekend, with plenty of setbacks to overcome and valuable championship points secured.â€

Heat 1

“Starting from P9, I made a strong launch and gained three places to run P6 into Turn 1. Unfortunately, the kart suffered from significant understeer for the opening five laps, making it difficult to defend. As a result, I dropped back to P14.

“As the kart’s handling gradually improved, I was able to push forward once again, recovering several positions to finish the race in P11.â€

Heat 2

“Lining up P19 on the grid, I made another excellent start, gaining four places before Turn 1. On lap two, karts #7 and #24 came together entering the Bus Stop, allowing me to move up to P13.

“After closing the gap to P12, I picked up the slipstream down the start/finish straight before diving to the inside into Turn 1 to complete the pass. A retirement further ahead promoted me another position.

“Later in the race, I got a strong run on P11 down the straight and pulled off an outside pass around Turn 1 to move into the top ten. Shortly afterwards, the race leader’s chain came off, promoting me to P9 with two laps remaining.

“Unfortunately, I continued to struggle getting a good exit onto the start/finish straight. Losing momentum allowed another kart to pass me at the end of the straight, meaning I crossed the line in P10.â€

Heat 3

“The opening lap was eventful. Heading into the Bus Stop, I was sideswiped by another driver. Fortunately, the kart that hit me spun off, and I was able to cut back underneath to avoid being collected and stay on the circuit. Although I didn’t lose any positions, I did lose valuable time.

“I managed to recover quickly, catching back up to second place and applying pressure for several laps. Despite multiple attempts, I couldn’t find a way through, and in trying to make the move I lost momentum, dropping back to P5.

“On lap eight, disaster struck when I was punted into the gravel at Turn 1. Keeping the throttle pinned, I managed to drive out of the gravel trap and rejoin the race, but I had fallen to P12 after losing around seven seconds.

“From there, I put my head down, caught P11, made the pass, and continued charging through the field to finish P9 on the road. After the race, a penalty for a kart ahead promoted me to P8.â€

Final

“Starting the final from P9, I spent much of the race holding position. Once again, I struggled to carry enough speed onto the start/finish straight, making it difficult to attack the karts ahead.

“With one lap remaining, a retirement in front promoted me to P8, which is where I ultimately finished.â€

Weekend Summary

“Overall, it was a frustrating weekend. Saturday was disrupted by carburettor and fuel issues, while on Sunday we continued to struggle with our drive onto the start/finish straight, costing valuable time throughout the races.

“Despite the challenges, we fought back consistently in every race, salvaged solid championship points, and leave the weekend sitting 5th in the championship standings.

“Now the focus turns to the next round at Shenington, where we’ll be looking to bounce back stronger…â¶Ä

Following podiums in Carolina and Atlanta, alongside another SR-21™-equipped driver, Eric ‘Dewey’ DeWitt, Fortner next visited Michigan’s Gingerman Raceway for Gridlife Midwest, with more top results secured across the weekend.

Read how it panned out in his own words below…

“Coming off of another strong showing at Gridlife Atlanta with a double podium in Streetmod for 91´«Ã½, I was feeling all the momentum and all the confidence heading into my 10th Gridlife Midwest, the event that started it all for me! The energy at Gridlife Midwest is just unmatched in every way, from the massive crowds to the festival vibes throughout the weekend, it’s always been my favourite event making a podium here just that much more meaningful. This is Gridlife’s Indy 500.”

“This weekend proved to me more of a challenge that I could have ever expected though. Right at the first corner of the very first session, my ABS failed, making each braking zone incredibly challenging. While racing a car designed without ABS is relatively straightforward, racing one without it that’s designed to have it is nothing short of dangerous.”

“Because of this, I was far off of the pace I needed to be fighting at the front, and potentially too far off to even put it in the top-5 for the podium sprint. I knew that if I wanted a podium, I needed to give it my absolute everything to at the very least make it into the sprint in order to give us the chance to fix our ABS issues, and I was able to do just that! Modulating my SR-21™ pads and focusing on perfecting each and every braking zone, I got us into the sprint by just over a second! This gave us a full day to chase whatever electrical issue was causing our problems. Thankfully, Gridlife is a paddock full of the most helpful people, and after getting help from a couple mechanics on a Rush SR team, we found the blown fuse, and the ABS was back to working as it should!

“Come Sunday, I knew what I had to do, and now that I could actually lean into the full potential of my 91´«Ã½ brakes, I knew I could give it my everything to go for my third podium in a row for the season! Although I missed out on second place due to fuel cuts from the car getting little too hot waiting in the pits from an incident on track, I was able to secure third, and with Eric Dewitt in first, this was yet another double podium for 91´«Ã½! After such a challenging event, to be able to come home with a podium is something I’ll forever be grateful for. Next up we’ve got Watkins Glen, one of my favourite tracks and a place that the Mercedes really shines at! The last time we were there, not only did I set the Streetmod record, I was also able to get the overall record! I’m so hyped to see what we can do this time!â€
